I feel hugely honoured to have been gifted a ticket for Musical Con 2025 – massive thanks to Chloe Nelkin Consulting for this – should I admit I was so excited when I heard, I had a sleepless night? Probably not, but there you go. This was my first visit to this event, so I really didn’t know what to expect but having loved musicals for as long as I can remember, I knew it would be my sort of thing.

The queue opened at 8am –  I didn’t make it until a bit later than that but this was not an issue. The queuing process was extremely organised and friendly and it was interesting to see how many cosplayers there were, some of the outfits looked like they’d been pinched from theatres they were that good.

The opening was announced and we were serenaded with “The Greatest Show”. Bold choice some may say, but with everyone belting out the words as we walked it, it created a very exciting atmosphere if you love musicals… and why would you be there if you didn’t?

I had a quick look around some of the stalls in “Theatreland” which contained booths full of stagey merch I need to delve a bit deeper into tomorrow.  Today, I headed straight to the Main Stage as the morning’s schedule was right up my street with an opening ceremony and then a show spotlight of The Producers followed by two show previews – Oscar At The Crown and Wild About You, followed by a surprise cast reunion. This turned out to be Clueless.

I wasn’t ready for the amount of musical theatre royalty that was going to come out during the opening ceremony, and hearing them all perform live was such an incredible start to the day. My camera got so much use the battery died on me mid-afternoon for the first time ever. It may take a while to sort out the rest of my photos!

I stayed in my spot in front of the Main Stage until I needed to eat, so I went in search of some food. Plenty of choice, some vendors even without a huge queue!

After finding some food, I sat in the “Backstage Theatre”. A smaller area, blessed with actual chairs. (I’m not ashamed to admit, by this point I was ready for a sit down!) I made it in time to see the second half of the “Black Print West End” panel, which was followed by “Light at the end of the Tunnel”, a Starlight Express panel. Sadly, with a dead camera battery and an almost full phone, my photos from these are pretty disappointing, but both panels were very engaging.

There are many additional paid activities you can add to a day at Musical Con – workshops, masterclasses and stage door experiences. I didn’t add anything on but even without that there was too much to see in one day.

So, what of tomorrow? I will be heading back to see some more action on the Main Stage, I definitely have my eye on a couple of panels, but I also want to explore the merchandise more, and hopefully get some photos of some of the amazing outfits people have put so much effort into.

I will be uploading more of my photos to my Instagram over the next few days so please do have a look over there if you would like to see those as well.

Please credit if you share my photos.
